An opportunity to speak out

In December our pastor, Peter Burns, was invited, alongside two other local church representatives to discuss issues of faith and support for church projects with MP’s in Westminster.

Arranged by our local MP James Plaskitt, and on behalf of clergy from across Warwick and Leamington Spa, Peter had the opportunity to meet with Stephen Timms, Labour’s Vice Chair for Faith Groups. The invitation enabled us to talk primarily about the perceived imbalance against churches and faith groups when applying for funding. Mr Timms listened carefully to our concerns and has promised to investigate matters further. It was also suggested that he and Mr Plaskitt will arrange further meetings with Government advisors to ensure that a Christian voice continues to be heard. Please pray for us in this opportunity but pray too for those Christians in government as they strive to honour God in their work.
