Rescue Team for HIV and AIDS
Over the last year by working in partnership, Castle Hill Baptist Church, Rescue Team for HIV & AIDS in Kalulini and the Buckinghamshire based charity Advantage Africa have developed a project which is bringing life-saving help and hope for communities devastated by HIV and AIDS in rural Kenya. Rescue Team is a group of young people that work together to address the sickness, death and poverty caused by HIV/AIDS in the vicinity of Kalulini, Kenya. Thanks to the prayer and financial support of Castle Hill Baptist Church including funds for £25,000, the resource centre is now fully open.
Local people are accessing good quality information about HIV and AIDS and other health and social issues through books, magazines and videos. In addition, up to forty people per month are coming for HIV counseling and testing. The centre is fully accessible to people with physical disabilities and the counselors are trained in sign language. The resource centre is the perfect facility for Rescue Team’s Kids Club, which it runs every Sunday. This provides recreational activities for children, particularly orphans, and raises awareness with children about HIV.
